Well whenever Im with a big group of friends someone usually brings their acoustic guitar, and everything I know is electric, so I dont end up playing, even though Im better than most if not all of those kids. So Im wondering what are some good, moderately simple (I cant do Clapton lol) songs that sound really good on acoustic.

whats so hard about just playing the songs you know on acoustic...just because your playing an acoustic guitar doesnt mean you have to change any songs you know on electric into fluffy little melodies for acoustic...just play what you know

Yeah but metal songs sound like crap on acoustic man. Almost everything I know is metal, and that doesn't transfer well to acoustic.

Green Day - Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)
Weezer - Island in the Sun
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here, Pigs On The Wing Pts. 1 and 2
America - Horse With No Name
Stone Sour - Through Glass
Coldplay - Don't Panic

All of those songs are very easy (pretty much simple chords) and fun to play as well. Some of them have electric parts but can still be played on an acoustic.

These chaps have some nice suggestions.

Or, you could do what I do. Play a few random (but catchy) chords, and say "Can you guess who this is?" And when they say no, say "It's ! You've never heard of ???"

Here's my choice for informal crowd pleasers

Wild Horses by the Rolling Stones
Here Comes the Sun by George Harrison
Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison
Cecilia by Simon and Garfunkel

All three can be strummed pretty easily, and are open to an unlimited amount of finger or flat picking leads if you or one of your acoustic buddies are up to it. If you're my age, everyone will know the words, if not, almost everyone probably had their parents play at least one of them 100 times hoping they'd stop liking punk rock! Just my picks.

You're better than all your friends but you can't even play Clapton?

I'm pretty sure most metal is more difficult than Clapton's acoustic stuff

I assumed that his acoustic stuff was on par with his electric stuff that Ive heard, such as Crossroads, which I cant do. didnt realize his acoustic was simpler than that.

Man, if you havent played any clapton then dont talk out of your ass. Claptons music way more dynamic and better than metal.

^ I have played Clapton material, so I'm not talking "out of my ass".

And I still think most metal is harder to play.

Honestly, try clapton songs. they are not particularly complicated, i learnt one called nobody knows you when your down and out in 7 mins( only because my dad learnt it. he went for a fag which he timed to take 7 mins and he came in and i had learnt it all but the solo.

Some of my standard repertoire (and I'm also a metal guitar player) for acoustic are these, if you can sing well enough these'll be great.

Damien Rice - "Cannonball", "9 Crimes", "The Blower's Daughter", "Older Chests", "Rootless Tree", "The Animals Were Gone", "Dogs", "Delicate"

Collective Soul - "The World I Know", "Under Heaven's Skies"

The Eagles - "Lyin' Eyes", "Desperado"

3 Doors Down - "Let Me Go"

Ani DiFranco - "Not A Pretty Girl"

Cat Stevens - "Father & Son", "Wild World"

Simon & Garfunkle - "The Boxer"

Joshua Radin - "Closer"

James Blunt - "You're Beautiful"

Johnny Cash - "Hurt"

I'm blanking on the rest now, but those are all pretty easy and really good.
