hello all. i was at a guitar shop today getting my guitar set up and they had a marshall jcm 900 1960 lead cabinet. i was wondering what the difference between this and say a regular 1960a cab would be? also hes selling it used for 499 canadian (about 590 american). is that a decent price for such a cabinet?

Thats really steep...even for an original 1960A cab.

As for the difference...I don't think there is any. It just says JCM 900 on it because thats what it was paired with. I think its still of the high quality of say a...JCM 800 1960A cab.

Check what speakers they are. If they are G12M/T70's, T75's, or V30 greenbacks then its a good high quality cab.

really thats steep? because i was looking at used ones in michigan last week and the cheapest used one was like 620 i think. i asked the guy who owns the shop and he said it had the original celestions. i asked what kind of celestions and he said "just the 30 watt ones" so im not sure like which kind exactly

The 30 watt ones are argueably the best cab speakers. They are specifically V30 Greenbacks.

That may be a fair price. I've seen them on Ebay for around 400 dollars but thats without adding shipping in. So its probably still around 500 bucks by the time you get it.

Well I am not sure between the difference between the lead and 1960A, but I am pretty sure all 1960A's are leads, and they are paired with JCM900's. That is all I have seen, I have never seen a regular 1960A without a lead slab on there .

ordering online through the us in canada is a bitch, shipping is a lot, plus you gotta pay customs, then you gotta pay the DHL or whoever is delivering even more money to take it to your door...or not...you still have to pay them,

a brand new 1960 lead cab in canada goes for 750-800 canadian dollars. 500 for a used 1960lead is pretty decent if the cab was in good condition.

oh and the 1960 lead doesnt come with Vintage 30s, they are celestian G12M's (i think G12 somethings anyway), but they are defintly not Celestian V30s)

Well if the guy said it has 30 watt speakers it doesn't have the G12M70's (which is actually whats in my jcm800). It has to be the V30's.

Maybe it was modded or special ordered. You can get V30's put in just about anything.

And if its only $430 U.S. then buy the thing. Thats a great deal.
