Hey all

My friend owns a Peavey valveking halfstack and it's making a "buzzing like tv interferance" I guessed it needed to be retubed or somthing.

Could somone shed some light on the problem? If theres any extra info you need I'll ask and post it.

Thanks for the help.

Sounds like a preamp tube going bad. The good news is those are super easy and cheap to replace.

Does this happen on the clean channel of the amp or just the high gain channel?

Just to be safe...have it all retubed...it can't hurt and probably needs it anyway.

Yeah, he said his clean channel is pretty bad, (happens on both channels)

So it's just a case of retubing?

Either that...or the pots need cleaning. Probably the tubes though. Just take it to a tech...get a new set put in and while hes got it open tell him to spray the pots down with cleaner (takes like 2 seconds).
