Use to like 'em. Now they're just not for me.

Coincidentally, I stopped liking them when I stopped smoking pot two years ago.

Totally one of the greatest bands ever. Clapton is in his young stages and he is just firing away with hard blues. They broke up too fast, they could have done so much more.

I always thought the exact opposite. John Mayall, Cream, Blind Faith, etc. were all better than Clapton solo.

atleast we've got a few albums to listen to. Blind Faith broke up too fast.

But yeah, Cream is great.

My uncle said he got bevvied with Jack sometime in the 80's

I'd take it with a pinch of salt though.

For all you Liverpool fans though, he also dated Ian St. John's daughter for a while. I tell no lies on that one!

Also, I reckon that Clapton's improvisation skills that he displayed with Cream far exceeded Hendrix's on stage jamming. Clapton stayed to the point of the song...sometimes for 20mins+!!!!!

I thought that Jimi was excellent near the end of his career, but he couldn't touch Clapton in the 20+ minute jams.

While i do agree with you that Clapton's improv>Jimi's improv, long jams do not equal quality

With Clapton's improvising, most of it, to me, was fairly good.

I especially love Spoonful from Wheels of Fire.

I agree with you, that his improvising is great, and he really does hold the attention. All I wanted to do was state my opinion that long =/= good

I don't feel, though, that simply because a song is long it is bad.

I listen to a lot of jam bands, and if they can keep my attention for 10, 20, 30, or even more minutes than that, I don't care how long the song is.

I agree, its just something about Jack Bruce's voice combining with Clapton's psychedelic guitar and Ginger Baker's pounding drums that makes me want to listen to them over and over again.

Sadly, though, Jack's voice has seemed to deteriorated quite a bit... at least that's how it appeared in the Royal Albert Hall reunion videos.

I'm not saying just because its long, its not good, all I'm saying is that longer doesn't mean its better, if its longer and of better quality, then yes, all I'm saying is that it's quality, not quantity.

Meh, as long theres no drum solos and adequate vocal or horn stuff going on it keeps me interested. Horn sections ftw!

I can stand drum solos that are entertaining, but I have heard some that are boring as hell and drag on forever.

I agree, for example, the Moby Dick solo is just way too long and it just doesnt hold my attention. While the drum solos by the drummers from the Allman Brothers are absolutely incredible, they really hold my attention extremely well
