EL34 are the tubes in the amp. It's a great amp too .

The El34's sound way better. Better crunch and saturation. The cleans seem to be a bit better.

Well if you have for example 3 channels, you can eq your clean channel, your crunch channel, and your distortion channel with different equalizer/volume/whatever settings, then flick between them with a footswitch. If you only have one channel, you don't have that option. You still can use a separate equalizer unit or whatever to achieve similar effects though so it's not that big of a problem, especially if you're playing shred.
