im thinking about getting this guitar as my main metal guitar etc
is it good?
any bad points?
and does the bolt on neck make any big difference?

i think it's an amazing guitar.
bad points: it depends if you like the extremely thin ibanez necks, and some people don't like the Dimarzio/IBZ pups, but IMO they are pretty good.
the Ibanez bolt ons are great and you can reach the high frets pretty easily...
i would say go for it

It's got a nice reliable trem. (Edge Pro)
It's got Dimarzio / IBZ pickups which ain't too shabby.
It's got a free hardcase.
It's got a bolt on AANJ, allowing easy access to higher frets.
It's got an HSH combo leading to versatile tones.
It's got a Wizard Prestige neck, which is thin and flat. You gotta try it out first to see if you like it.

IMO, it's good. You could always look into the Ibanez RG1570, cheaper but similar specs (except pickups).

Basically just the same as an RG1570, only with a pickguard, different paintjobs and pickups.

If you wait a few weeks more, you can get the new 2007 models with sharktooth-line inlays.

And disgustingly ugly pickguard... IMO
