Hi this is my first time posting in the bass forum and hope it wont be my last i have been playing electric guitar for 3 years now and I still like it very much but ive been wanting to play bass for awhile first im gonna ask what would you guys suggest for a 4 string bass and amp i can go about $600 for everything but itll take me a while to get the money but for now i have a silvertone bass and amp that was my brothers and he doesnt use.....the guitar will be used for playing stuff like rhcp and jazz funk sorta stuff.... also can anyone reccomend me some songs that sound good that arent very hard that all bassists need to know and some point or another

Oh and the gear I was looking at is

Ampeg Ba112 50w combo

How does that sound?opions on other ones i should try?

The Apmeg amp should be able to suit your needs just fine. It is a good quality amp and has good sound. Other people may disagree because of brand preference, but I like Ampeg amps . I recommend trying to get a used Fender MIM J instead of the squire, but a J bass is definitely the kind of thing you want to look at.

The Squier Modified is actually a good bass compared to the MIMs... you can get a MIM for $200-ish on eBay if you don't mind going used though.

thanks for the help guys i think i probally will go for the squier and the ampeg but can anyone still tell me a few easy songs that sound good
