So the other day I was with my friend, watchin his Lynyrd Skynyrd live DVD. (The new Skynyrd, not the old Skynyrd... after the crash) and I realized that at least one of the guitar players was playing through a Peavy Triple XXX head. I never realized this before... and I never realized how much gain they used.

Anyhow, just thought I'd share... because I thought it was interesting.

They are much gainer nowadays. Didn't used to be that way. They use Mesa's and Peavy's now.

Really? Strange, I always pictured them with Marshalls and maybe Fenders, they never used to use much gain.

yeah thats one of the reasons why the new skynyrd is just horrible. I didnt particularly care for the old skynyrd but the new stuff theyve done is just really really bad.

I don't think the new skynyrd is horrible. I don't think anything new that they could write can top the material they have already, but I think they sound pretty good. They're just old now lol. Especially Rick Medlocke... he looks like skeletor, probably from the coke. O_O And they've always had gain... if you listen to old skynyrd you'll hear pinch harmonics everywhere, just like now. It's not BLS gain but its more than you would expect from their time period and genre. I never really realized it until now..
