I've been looking at these Line6 Toneports for a while now and once my paycheck comes in I think I'll be getting one

What I'm wondering is if it's worth the extra $75 to get the UX2 over the UX1. Are the features I'd be missing out on worth the savings?

It depends on what you'd use it for.

If you want to do lots of recording with vocals and/or acoustic guitars, I would definitely suggest the UX2 because the UX1 lacks any phantom power that is necessary for condenser mics.

^I'd let a pro look at it. Once you get into the technicalities of screws...well, it's just a place you don't want to be, friend.

Is that really the only significant feature between the two? I'd be using it mostly for just toying around (i've never recorded before), but I would like something that lasts. Styles are mostly blues rock, hard rock, and metal.

Both suck, go read the stickies in the Riffs and Recordings section.
I'm not very active here on UG currently.
I'm a retired Supermod off to the greener pastures of the real world.

Could you expand on that please? What exactly about them sucks?
