Like the title says, can it be done?

My friend plays bass and he said I might ruin the amp, or tone will just suck.

Any advice?

The sound will suck yes. But it won't PROBABLY break the amp. I said probably..

Our band mascot is a Muffin.

A recent study shows that 8% of teenagers listen to nothing but music with guitars in it. Put this in your sig if you're one of the 92% who aren't close-minded morons.

Running that low of frequencies through a guitar speaker isn't really that good for it, especially smaller practice-amp speakers, but there will be sound and the amp won't spontaneously explode or anything.

Cool. Then I'll buy a bass amp.

I can play bass well enough for a n00b, I just use my friends all the time so I don't have my own one. I'm probably going to buy one, but I didn't know about the amp stuff.

well, i'm playing my bass through my 30w guitar amp right now. been doing so ever since christmas. just DON'T! turn it up louder than halfway and keep the slap and overall playing somewhat subdued.

Welcome to bass, you'll f*cking love it

true. it can't hurt the amp if u keep it at a normal volume. Never more than halfpower though. If the amp is a tube amp, I would never play a bass through it, but if its SS, who cares?

I run my friends bass through my MG....actually it's really good. Doesn't distort, and it's not thtat bad sounding.

FYI I have used a guitar amp ever since I have been playing Bass.

Works fine for me, it's an old Fender amp.

Though, i've never dared put it past 7..
