go to a store and play one. then play several other guitars in the same price range, pick the one you like best.

yeah i will go to a store but the closest one is about 200km away so i'm just doing some research so i know what to look for when im in the shop, so what schecter's do u recomend because i have never used one b4
#8
hmmm i suggest an amp first then guitar later.

but if you were to get a guitar maybe a les paul copy as jade uses a les paul and you listed alot of afi, plus with the lp you can use the selector as killswitch wich jade does in some afi songs.
maybe you could get a j and d lespaul (i just got one and love it bridge pup is a bit to high output for me but it plays great)
but yes maybe an amp first, because my ashton doesnt sound to bad through my amp.

lol i was in the same postion as you a year ago i choose guitar first but it was a mistake but i made up for it by getting a lovely amp a couple months later.
#9
I would agree with the amp...but wait, where do you live? For a 1000 bucks USD you could get a real Les Paul...
#10
yeah i thought someone was gonna say get an amp first and i probly will in the end adn also i when i tried out some distortion pedals in the shop the guy at there said my neck pick up was faulty and i never noticed it and it does have a kinda crappy clean sound but good with distortion. if i get a guitar i will be taking it to school for the next 3 years and we got a couple of 50 watt amps there...

i'm live in tasmania australia so it's 1000, au and a gibson les paul is just over my limit and the fact that it has gibson written on it makes it even more expensive
#12
It's worth driving that distance and actually playing a guitar that fits your needs than blindly spending 1000 dollars on something you're going to regret.

Ah, I really don't know how much 1000 Australian is in USD, if anyone could tell me roughly about how much it is, I could probably help on a guitar choice
#14
i will go to a store but i'm probably gonna get an amp now not sure, whats the difference between a tube amp and.. just a normal one if there is such thing as one
#16
Oh, well then there's still a lot of nice guitars you could get in that price range. Tube amps have more clarity and response in their sound and the tubes are overdriven to give distortion instead of solid state amps that are processed (like a foot pedal).

Go for used gear!

ok well is a stack like with the head and speakers seperate better than just a amp in one peace and although i like alot of afi the main sound i want is the heavy distortion sound like "the agony scene, arch enemy, lamb of god kinda sound but with a decent amp shouldn't i be able to get pretty much wht ever sound i want and what brands would u reccomend for a good amp
#19
dunno where i'm gonna find used gear and i don't want to buy of ebay either if something breaks it's expensive to get it fixed

how d u tell if an amp is a tube amp or not

most of the time, there's an opening in the back, where u can see the tube...
it looks kinda like a lightbulb of somesort jsut in case u don't know what they look like...

some hybrids are sometimes closed, so u just gotta look at the manual or sumtin

schecters are sooo not better than ibanez....lol well i dont think they are anyways
but from what i see i think an epiphone is your best bet...but the songs you mentioned are just the usual list of what a 7 month player plays and i kind of think you should wait cause your style of music will change lots by the your 2nd 3rd year in and if you get liek a les paul right now for teh stuff your doing right now and you start getting into stuff like satriani and steve vai and all that you wont want a les paul...and back and forth soo i dono i would wait

My advice:

Buy yourself a nice mid-grade double humbucker guitar that's all hardwoods in $500-700 range. Then go get some nice Seymour Duncan, DiMarzio, EMG, or Lace pickups for it. With the $150-400 you'll have left after the guitar AND pickups you could find a pro in your area and have them do the instillation for you (since most people are sheepish about such things). If you've got enough money left have them wire up some switch for phase inversion, tap coil, etc. You'd be able to get such a veriety of tones that your guitar could eat 'Pauls, Strats, and Ibanez's for breakfast.

Or you could buy an all-hardwood Agile for next to nothing, do the pickup thing and still have money to look at amps with.

But that's just my advice...
