I have guitarport, which is a digital guitar program for your comp, turning comp into a digital amp basically.

It's got a compressor pedal on it, which from what I hear is somewhat useful...

...from what I hear it compresses the sound to make every note clear, or "sound out"...I have two questions...

Is there a loss in quality, since it "compresses" the sound?

and what should the settings be?

The knobs show, Threshold (which is currently facing 1 o clock at -21 dB)

and Gain (which is currently all the way counter clockwise at 0 db)

Thanks for any help.

you shouldnt lose too much sound quality but it cleans might sound a bit crunchier.some overdrives work by extreme compression and amplification but thats probably ouytside the parameters of the pedal so i wouldnt worry too much

Cleans crunchier? Like slightly distorted? Ew, I don't like that

Haha, anyone got any idea on settings?
