Delay/ Echo: Echo is basically old scool delay, which was achived with tape echos or angalog delay pedals. Now alot of manuactuers does digitals instead. Anyway a delay is when the signal is repetead (as in echo's, it goes Ding ding ding ding) and on most delay it also "fades" out.
Reverb is like a faked room, imagine when you put the amp in a big room, you get some kind of echoing open sound.

delay repeats your signal. reverb simulates ambiance of a room, hall etc..
