I am looking for an overdrive pedal to give me a boost when i play solos. I have an Orange Ad30TCH as my amp. I need it to be able to get a little heavy(not like thrash metal heavy, more like hard rock). Ill be plying everything from Zep solos to GNR solos and the pedal is only for a boost when i play those. I really would like it to have true bypass but if there is a good pedal for me without i will still consider. Overdrive pedals i was looking at were: Maxon Od-9, Ibanez TS-9, Boss OD-3, or a Fulltone Fulldrive2(a little too pricey for me though).

Thanks

i have a boss SD-1 and it's the best OD pedal i've played yet, for exactly the reasons you stated up there
Now officially has too much gear to list

PM me if you want to know about my recording setup

Ts-9. I've tried a few boss ods/distortions and I severely dislike them all. But then ive never tried an SD-1, so what do I know. But first impressions count.

They're all great pedals, it's just preference.

I've got a Boss OD-3 and use it as a boost, it does a great job, crunches up the sound more and makes it cut through better.

I don't think so, but all Boss pedals have really good buffers(no noticable tone suckage), so there's not too much need for true bypass.
