I just did a search, and could not find any recomendtaions on tube replacement for a peavy 5150 head.

I have been reading up on how tube amps work, and think its time to replace the tubes- i've had it for a while and never replaced them, and the old ones are starting
to get frosted. I have a couple of questions:
I want to get a a heavy, solid, saturated "metal" tone (think and justice for all...)

1. I understand the use a 6L6 type, is there one type of tube i should prefer?
2. should I also replace the smaller tubes (i think they are the power amp tubes)?
3. ANy other tips/ secrets i should know about?

Im a pretty handy guy, and i am not afraid to jump in there, because ive seen people replace them before- im just looking for some brand recomendations.

Thanks in advance.

Contact Doug @ http://www.dougstubes.com/

Tell him everything you want to do.

I would say Eurotubes but there are more options than JJ.

Also, talk to Jerry from FJA mods because he seems to be the know all end all on 5150s
