My baby and daily guitar is a 1964 Yairi. It's a bit beat up but the tone is beautiful. Model number is 1174 serial number 228, all handwritten. It's got some quirks, but I've honestly never plaid anything that resonated quite the same way, you can almost tune to the resonance of the body.

Does anyone else play a Yairi? I've never seen one for sale in Australia.

I dont own an old school yairi, but I do own a YM-1 alvarez Yairi from 1995, Solid wood, flame top and back, and signed by the man himself! And I only paid $600 for it!

Wow, 3 month bump. Is the Alverez steel or nylon? Good to see some others apreciating the work of this rather nice workshop. I've got some pics of mine floating round, I'll see if I can get them posted.

yeah, its a steel string and plays great!

PS. The alvarez/yairi is going to be the december aotm!
