I've got business on wednesday morning, maths wednesday afternoon and physics friday afternoon and I haven't really revised. Looks like tonight and tomorrow are going to be late nights. Man I can't wait until friday night.

So, what have you got this week? Have you revised much? Nervous?

Physics AS. I keep meaning to revise, but I can't bring my self to do it.

maths wednesday afternoon, physics friday afternoon...

i aint revised, and i dont plan on doing for maths coz its easy...

physics on the otherhand...i think im screwed

Business: I couldn't care less about. Maths, not too hard, just remember the formulae and physics is what I'm probably most worried about, my teacher is shit. Saying that, it's not like I've payed much attention anyway.

I don't even know what I should revise for physics

I guessing you're first year of college? I'm doing my English Lit a year early, but I'm feeling pretty good. Stressed because I haven't remembered much, but good because today I discovered we can use our own plays and anthologies with notes in.

Which exam board's paper are you sitting? I'm doing OCR and the code for it is 2821. If yours is the same I'll give you a list of things you'll need to know.

I'm really sick and have maths on Wednesday. Today I wanted to revise but I felt like throwing up everytime I sat up so I just slept the whole day. Then when I finally did get up at 4:30 I ate a duck wrap and threw it up.

Here's (in PDF format) the timetable for OCR exams in January.

I'm doing Chemistry: Foundation Chemistry (2811) on the 11th, Physics A: Forces and Motion (2821) on the 12th and MEI Foundations of Advanced Mathematics (6989) on the 25th. My biology exam (Biology A Unit 1) is with AQA on the 10th.

Sixteen Times, which physics paper are you sitting?
#16
Now that I think about it I probably should have done my Maths one early, but my school doesn't do that so I would have had to book it in an out of school thing. I'll have too many exams in the summer as it is.

In sixth form, how many courses is it reccomended to take? I'm looking at a couple, but I don't know many you can take, or what the suggested amount is.

My exam board is AQA for physics.

Just revising maths now, going through a past exam paper and I don't quite know what this question means:

-Describe the geometrical transformation by which centre, C, can be obtained from the circle with equation

x^2 + y^2 = r^2

Now, I know all about the circle equation, how to work out the centre, radius, how to complete the square to get to the circle equation, but I don't really know what this question means. Anyone?

Business AS resits on Wednesday, A2 unit 4 on the 22nd. Oh and an IT exam on the 18th. Joy.

I'm doing 6, but I think the recommended is 4 of yours, and if you're in the UK, you might get stuck with compulsory IT as well. Or Critical Thinking. I took it to get out of IT.

As far as I'm aware, the minimum number of AS-levels (and A-levels) you have to take is 3. 3 Is enough to get into universities unless you're wanting to be something like a doctor, in which case 4 is not strictly required, but because of competition is highly recommended. I've heard of people taking 5 AS levels, but I'm not sure whether they continued to do 5 A levels.

Edit: ^ Fucking hell, six? Do you have time for anything else? What are you taking?
#25
I've got 5 exams coming up.
AS physics retake (Wave properties module)
A2 Chemistry- Dreading it, i can't remember a thing.
A2 Physic- its going to be piss easy, got like 90% on the mock with no revision
A2 maths- (C3 for those doing Edexcel) again, going to be fairly easy.

and a Statistic module-S1 (for my AS-further maths)

Whoever above said they are re-sitting D1, good luck to you, its hard enough the first time round (simplex method )

Good luck to everyone whos got exams!!

Wouldn't the centre just be the origin?
Try looking on the relevant exam board website - sometimes they have the mark schemes....
Member of UG's Tubgirl Virgins Club

Yeah, I know its the origin, but its a two-mark question, and its asking the geometrical transformation by which C can be obtained. Wtf?
#30
Don't you have to like do two tangents and see where they cross or something? I forget, i'll go grab my old AS book.
#31
Cheers for the info, I had been planning on four anyway. I might see into doing five, I want to take english grammar but continue my english lit else this whole year would have been a waste, so I can't do combined. I don't think where I want to go does compulsory subjects, what does CT involve anyway?

I haven't got a clue I'm afraid mate. Try making a whole thread about it - then maybe people who haven't seen this thread could help.
EDIT^ that bit was meant for sixteen times.

My non mathematical brain finds it incredibly difficult, I can remember the definitions of the particles just not the equations for things like refractions and such. It's partially interesting, but i'm more interested in the next module since it actually has to do with stuff I want to do when i'm older.

The centre is at (0,0)

(x-a)^2 + (y-b)^2 = r^2

The centre would be at (a, b)

I do 5 AS (Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and I intend to follow them all through to A2 level. It is possible, last year some kid in my school got 5 As at A level.

And I'm confused as to how my Physics and Chemistry courses are set. My biology one is in 3 separate modules but my physics and chemistry ones appear to be different.

Anyone do Physics with OCR and know how the course is set out?

EDIT: to flame Chicken, what are your plans for after A-levels? you got quite a range of subjects there.
