If I play a epi valve junior head through a 300 watt 4X12" speaker cab, how loud will it be? Loud enough for gigging?

the 5 watter?

not loud enough for gigging unless you mic it.

btw, it's the head's wattage that matters, not the cab's. the cab's wattage is just how much it handles.

It will be 5 watts. Depends on what speakers. If you have higher dB speakers, it will sound louder. My Valve Junior through an Avatar with 2 100dB speakers compares to my 30w SS amp in how loud it sounds.

+1

the wattage rating of the speakers doesn't matter, but the sensitivity does.

My guess is it's loud with a 4x12, but it's touch and go whether it's loud enough for gigs- smaller gigs, maybe, assuming you don't need too loud a clean.

it definitely fills a room, even with a single speaker.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.
