I picked this up today from a second hand shop for £180 / $350.

I noticed it had been refinished when I read it on paper note supplied with the authenticity cert.

It has a mahogany body and a blonde finish,
The same as the cert says.

It has smaller than usual tuning pegs on a tele to.

I've been told these are rather rare.
Are they REALLY THAT RARE.

& how much are they worth roughly?

Is there any black people on UG?
I don't think a lot of black people play guitar anymore.

Tele's aren't mahogany. Ash maybe? Or alder.

But if you're not lying, they're pricy. £180? That's a steal.

This thread is worthless without pics.

Agreed. It's probably only rare cos it's Mahogany. I've never heard of fender using Mahogany before CBS (I doubt they'd use any during the CBS years either).

If it's real, it wouldn't be that cheap. Something's phishy. Pictures?

Only rare because it's mahogany? It's a '63 Tele, that's why it's rare!

But I'm not believing until I see pics.

I call BS. Post a pic of the guitar with you next to it holding a sign saying 'i'm not lying'. Don't get me wrong i want to believe you but I don't trust UG'ers.

^Indeed, a lot of people have lied about this type of thing before.

And you need a sign saying "I'm not lying, whooop"

'63 doesn't really make it rare. That makes it vintage

I meant that the threadstarter was told that it was rare, and I assume it was a rare model made of mahogany, as most of them were made of ash.

That didn't make sense, did it? Fock.

It does make it rare-ish, because there aren't that many of them around/hard to come by.

Threadstarter (if he ever replies....) where does it say it's made of mahogany?

I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

chances are that fender did mess around with designs and woods and all that for a little before they settled in.

maybe?

Some '63 Tele's came with a mahogany body, but they were only ever offered in translucent red. BTW, if it is real, can I have the address of your grandmother's guitar shop? I'm sure she has the 3rd left handed 1959 Les Paul sitting out back.

i have heard of people get insanely good deals on stuff like that from antique or pawn shops that dont really know anything about guitars. But yeah those should only be in translucent red, but you said it had been refinnished which will make it less valuable, id also have to know how many parts on it are stock before i can give you any estimate, because if it has no stock parts then it wont be too valuable.
