I read that the only member of The Beatles to never contribute to John Lennon's solo work was Paul McCartney, yet, at the beginning of this song, it sounds exactly like a Paul/John harmony

Um, no. Harrison plays lots of insturments on that album though. I know he plays Dobro on Crippled Inside and guitar on Hold On. Imagine is my favourite Lennon album laong with Plastic Ono Band.

"Give Peace a Chance" was a hit song written by John Lennon and originally credited to Lennon-McCartney. However, when Lennon's live album with Yoko Ono and Elephant's Memory, Live in New York City (recorded in 1972), was reissued in the 1990s, "Give Peace a Chance" was credited solely to Lennon.
