I've noticed d'Addario sell sets of nylon strings that have black treble strings. What is the reason for this? Are they made out of a different material, or coated or something? Their website wasn't clear about it.

that'd be kind of neat... i'd buy em for the look at first and then to see how they work

Well they are just called 'black trebles' and there isn't any other information about 'em on the d'adarrio website. If they we're made out of a totally different material or something they would have mentioned it.

Instead of using Valves, could I use Light Bulbs instead? If so, would the new energy saving ones be OK? Coz I do a lot of playing

I got my pick stuck inside my guitar . . . . how am I supposed to get it out?

you said nylon strings. the black treble strings in d'addario classical guitar strings are just black nylon.

By the looks of the picture that DJaye posted, they look like they're steel strings...
#13
So now I'm confused again XD Are they regular nylon strings with a black coating or made out of all-black nylon? And if the latter one is true, why?

those strings that djaye posted pictures of are acoustic steel strings that have a black protective coating. the d'addario classical nylon strings with black treble strings contain... well, black treble strings. but they aren't coated. they are just black nylon.

Yeah, Jimtaka is right . . . . if it is the Treble strings, it would be black nylon, like the black fishing line you can get.

Yeah but what I want to know is WHY they are made out of black nylon, is it just for looks or do they have a different sound?

Apparently its easier to get a good and loud sound when doing a hammer on. As far as I know thats all they do as far as I know, don't think they do anything else... then again I haven't actually tried them, that's just what my guitar teacher told me.

Unless i'm thinking of something else

You all know that DR makes coated strings in several different colours and has done for years, right?
