I know this may sound stupid, but I am paranoid. I just got my first guitar but at the moment, I've yet to get an amp, so I am plugging my guitar straight into the mic jack on my soundcard...It works, however, I just want to be sure that this can in no way possible damage or degrade the electronics of my guitar. I know mic ports are supposed to be one way devices, but no feeback goes back to my guitar does it?

^I'd let a pro look at it. Once you get into the technicalities of screws...well, it's just a place you don't want to be, friend.

no poblem should occur. i dont know though if you plug it into a stereo, but i know that bass guitar into stereo = bad idea.

****s up the speakers...

my bassist cant be bothered to buy an amp for home practice so he uses his stereo..the speakers rattle like bags of beans.
