I've noticed that a lot of people who said they hated rap have said that they hate it because of the subject matter and the fact that the music is hard to make.

soooo...i swear this thread has a point.

I will, and i assume others will to, recommend good underground rap for you to listen to.

I'll start with several.

Jurassic 5 - What's Golden (Not the actual video, but its great)
Lyrics Born - Last Trumpet
Diverse, Lyrics Born & Rjd2 - Explosive
RJD2 - 1976...its not "hip hop" purely, but its definatly hip hop.
Blackalicious - Alphabet Aerobics - If you think that doesnt take talent then you need to stop playing music.
This is an animation someone did to the song "Release" by Blackalicious but it's Saul Williams. i wish i could find the whole song, but thats the only part i really wanted you to hear
Some may view this as sacrilege...i see this as great music.
Busdriver - Kill Your Employer

soo, i dont want this to be a debate about rap. i want this thread to be about educating some of you on what rap is and can be.

i'm not trying to force you to listen to rap, i know some of you know rap can be like this but it just isnt for you, thats ok.

i'm trying to find those people who would like this stuff but would never hear it because it wouldnt get play.

and feel free to post some vids if you got it, i could always use some new music too

edit: oh, and dont talk about this if you didnt watch at least a few.

Nah, I'm sorry, just because it's Rap doesn't mean it's allowed, take it to Other in B&A.

Edit: And Jurassic 5, underground?

and you've heard them on the radio?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. They are quite underrated, though.

I love rap, but please stop trying to shove it down everyones throats.

Nas is my favorite rapper, hes so awesome. Illmatic is quite possibly one of my favorite albums ever.

i said i'm not shoving.

i'm trying to educate.

if you see that as shoving then you need to just relax.

jesus, we're all here because we love music.

However, it does take talent to flow in time, write good lyrics and write a good beat.

It is in no way overrated. Although it is the only song people talk about when discussing him. What are your thoughts on You Never Know?

its odd how we like poor black people when they play the blues, jazz, or funk but not now.

rap is basically the new blues, you dont like it? deal with it.

for all you who refuse to give rap a chance, go for it. we're having fun.

Your grammar is not to my liking; therefore you suck! You have no talent because you are just sitting and typing.

Quote by unplugtheradio
and you think that it took no talent?

of course it doesn't he just got a simple idea with a simple beat then read through a dictionary and maybe a thesaurus

Quote by SForbz-Rockstar
So basically you're an ignorant, close-minded Rock elitest? Cool! Never met one of them before. Tell me, is ignorance really bliss?

no i could listen to any music happly(well not happley but i could respect the talent), just not pop rap and dance
