What are the requirements to get into Berkelee College of Music?
I understand that theres an interview and audition, along with a huge amount of money, but what else is needed?
Thanks in advance

If you can't spell it, you can't get in.

No Canadians allowed in Berklee on account of Bryan Adams, Celine Dion, Shania Twain and that Skater grl i forget her name. Crimes against Musicality.

The auditions aren't particularly tough as far as i know

basic knowlege of scales, 7th chords, jazz theory helps

its really a jazz school so if you can't follow changes you're gonna have to learn or you wont really fit in

they have a list of audition requirements on the website.. im gonna be auditioning for a summer program there so im gonna have to study up lol

first learn to spell it.

they look at transcripts

they require you to do a sight reading test

you need to audition with a pre-prepared piece

That's only somewhat true. One of the big points of the school is versatility. Whereas many music schools only teach classical, Berklee teaches many contemporary styles.

Three members of Dream Theater went there.

yeah john mayer went there, but he dropped out when he realized that he was a badass at the guitar, so you could ask him next time you get the chance

Indeed, what i said came out wrong, methinks.. What i meant is that if you're a typical rock player who's used to playing straight pentatonic or diatonic stuff without being experienced in jazz, it would be very difficult to keep up, even if you do take classes aimed towards your style

yer i know of it. i believe steve vai went there. i might be wrong though

yes as did much of dream theater.

My guitar teacher says that nowadays the standards aren't strict enough though and they'll let just about anyone in.
"That Hidde's a cool guy" -Abe Lincoln
"Hidde? Yeah we jam all the time" -Steve Vai
"Remember that time when burt jumped out of the tree and into the river? Good times!" -Jesus

So I heard you liek profiles?

I'm actually waiting to hear from them on my audition date. I'm hoping to go there this fall. My friend went there and now he's recording his album. He said it was probably one of the best decisions ever when he decided to go there.

So, no one here has anything to say about Berkley?

I think most people are still trying to get to grips with the discriminatory fashion in which Berkelee treats people with no faces.

But 3 Inches of BLood, Katakylsm, Cryptopsy, Woods of Ypres, and the always fun Protest the Hero bring their cred right back up.

But here's Berklee's site.

https://secure.berklee.edu/AI/prospects/

You'll read it in there, but they STRONGLY advise you go to Berklee and take a tour and all, because that shows you care enough to make the trip and show you're at least wanting enough to make the trip.

Just a thought.
