What kind of guitar do you have at the moment, I bet it can't be any worse than a stagg.... but I would be inclined to get a new amp anyway.... that zoom is...hmm...well I have it, and it is not friendly.
Why did Pat Metheney cross the road? He didn't, his hair got in the way

I love Tele's so I'm a bit biased, but a Les Paul style guitar might be better for you if you want to play Punk. You could always have a humbucker installed into the Tele, but that might cost as much as the guitar if you buy a new pickup and can't do the work yourself.

If you like the Tele you could pick up a 4-way selecter switch which would give you both series and parallel options and allowing your singles to act like a humbucker

Pay attention, Stratwizard. He said rock and punkrock in the original post :P

I'd say go for the LP.

Cheers.
