Both tracks were going for a jazzier feel, although neither really were straight up jazz.

Both took 2 tracks: One took 1 lead bass and 1 rhythm bass, one took 1 rhythm guitar and one lead bass.

Um, just a quick critique, and I mean nothing personal. Straight up, professional opinion.

The first recording needed less bass and more balancing. It sounded real muffled, and I'm not too keen on the reverse-tape effect the guitar may or may not have had...sounded like it to me. Some work on the dynamics, also. Otherwise, not bad at all. Good walking line.

The second one needed less treble. Literally, it sounded like a baritone guitar...almost. More "balls" if you will next time, please? Timing was a little bit of an issue on that one...maybe a metronome next time? I heard some relatively good licks in this one; again, a little more work on the timing and maybe a little work on making those fast runs fit a little better, and you've got a piece.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be harsh. Both were very good pieces. Just offering a little critique for thought.

Hmmm, the first one, as said above, was balanaced terribly. The walking line was ok, but the melody over the top of it was pretty boring and it didnt flow very well. The timing was an issue for me on this one. It was also very very short. Not sure what effect you had over the walking bassline but take it off, it sounded like an envelope filter of some sort. Not cool in Jazz lines.

The second one with the guitar had a very trebly sound too it, you need to roll the treble right back, i barely heard any bassy notes at all, not a jazz tone in sight. The guitar progression was cool, i liked that. Dan, what are the chords please mate? The melodic line was good, but was out of time in some places, especially in the fast runs, and it needs a bit more feeling. I didnt feel like either of the pieces were being played from the heart.

I voted for number two, as i feel it had more potential.

Of course, with respect.

Good job guys

Nice job guys. Apple pretty much nailed what i was going to say so there is no point in me repeating it.

First, you guys both did pretty sweet.
The first one was good but with practise, can probably be better.
The second one was good too, but I think some of the notes should've been played more clearly.
Good work guys.

I think the second one was very good, but it would have been better if the two tracks were mixed in time
