Heh. Well, I generally consider my start in 1974 when my new college roommate
arrived with his Strat. But I did have a crappy acoustic before that, so maybe
more like 1970.

started to play 2 1/2 years ago but didnt get my own guitar for 1/2 year later.

EDIT: wtf, where is the 2-3 years. well then i vote 1-2.

And to FretboardToAsh: how is your amp, is it good. couse i just orderd a Fender FM65R and havent got it yet. wasnt quite sure if i should get a FM65R or a FM210R couse they cost the same. And i can see that you have the FM212R so i guese you have a clue.

EDIT2: sorry, all wrong here. Been playing for 2 and owned a guitar for 1,5.
but then i voted correctly.

it's fun and pretty decent for practice, never tried it at gigs though. and i doubt i will, the volume pots suck, 1 means decent, 2 is way too loud you have to be very precise with it.
i like it's sound though but if you turn it past 3 it'll go into overdrive, not good. however i suspect 3 would be about 8 cause the pots are ****ed up, you won't need to turn it to 3 if you do small gigs and practice.

This old fart started playing immediately after receiving a cheap guitar for Christmas in 1963. The bond was solidified forever after seeing the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964. I feel sorry for you young turks who missed all of that.

I started playing guitar in 1987. I took about 7-8 years off and just started up about 4 months ago.

Wow, thats impressive. You could have kids that are playing for many years as well. Btw, do you have any kids, and if so, do they play at all?

This old fart started playing in '71 when I was 13 years old.

Like Edg I am approaching the edge... that is, 50 years old.

OT I have been working on some guitar software for awhile, temporary web site here if you are interested: http://www.hypertab.com

2 years. Lucky for me though I have a couple more years of High School to spend practicing before I have to take life seriously.

i've been playing for about 3 years now, and i have much to learn, but i'm happy to say that i'm making steady progress

it took you 15 consecutive hours of practice to realize that playing guitar makes you better at playing guitar. congratulations.

I've been playing about 5 years.. The first couple years I played nothing but tabs and was a crazy n00b. But then I got some books and decided to really play. Getting a teacher really helped also. I've also played piano for about 7 years or so.. something like that

Guitar since May 2004, so about 2 and 2/3 years. I've been doing mostly classical since April though.

Double Bass since September 2004 and Mallet Percussion since 2002.

I need to start playing more frequently, but finding the time to is hard between school work, part time jobs, homework, and that inkling desire to sleep.
