is there any real difference aside from the size? the nano clone is also $30 cheaper. why!?

i'm under the impression that their circuitry is exactly the same.

the nano doesnt have the depth and rate controls i do beleive.

The circuitry is pretty much the same other than the output jacks and switch etc. are soldered directly onto the PCB I think.
