Hey,

I'm just learning the guitar. I'm getting a standard Fender Strat, and am considering the Fender Pro Junior All Tube Guitar Amp. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this amp and knows its pros and cons. There is no way I can afford anything more. I'm stretching it to the max as it is. (The amp is $300).

Here's a link to the amp:

Part of me says just get a cheap $70 amp for now (since I'm just learning), and then in 3-4 months I can afford a $835 amp. Another part of me says get the best I can now, and still get the $835 amp, but maybe a year or so instead.

Looking for some advice.

Thanks much in advance,
db

This one probably won't make you happy, as a beginner. Yeah, it's tube, so it will sound good. However, you won't get any reverb and it's only one channel.

Something like this will be more fun to play with until you get the big one.

Please don't get that Line 6. Get something good like these:

or this:

Much better alternatives to that Line 6.

Line 6 is fine. The Vox is good too. My point was to get an amp with more toys built in.

Did they ever fix the problems they were having with the Roland Cubes?

I own a pro junior, as a newb you might not appreciate it as much, but after playing on a shitty solid state for awhile, the tube amp will make you wish you didnt waste your time with the cheaper amps. Line 6 is shit.

No, get the Fender tube. Much better than all the amps the above mentioned.

Hey Paint - I wanna thank you for those "click" sites. Those are all good causes. I saved them to my favorites, and will click them all every day.

I should have stated in my original post, that I am planning on specializing in the blues. Hopefully, I will play most anything, but I really enjoy the blues. My favorite would be Clapton's "Old Love" solo. That's not Delta Blues type, but I still call it the blues.

^^ agreed, however you might want an OD or distortion pedal for some different sounds.

To the guy above the guy above me.
