im gonna buy 2 distortion pedals in the next week
i want one for more "classic" metal sounds like Randy Rhoads, Paul Gilbert (Mr. Big days), early Megadeth/Iron Maiden type stuff
i was thinking about getting a MXR Distortion + for this
and for drop tunings for stuff like As I Lay Dying, Bleeding Through, Job For a Cowboy type stuff i were think a Metal Muff w/Top Boost
anyone got any experience with these or can recommend anything else?

The Metal Muff is good, but only with a decent amp. I have a shit amp and when I got it, I thought it sucked, but when I tried it at the shop another time with a decent ss it sounded amazing.

The Metal Muff should be able to pull off both of those tones if you change the EQ.
