(x^2 - 5) > 2*2

(x^2 - 5) > 4

x^2 - 5 > 4

X^ 2 > 4 + 5

x^2 > 9

x > Route 9

x > 3

I haven't done inequalities in fair while, so please excuse me if it's wrong

you can't do X^2 > 9

x > route 9

you have to bring it to one side

X^2 - 9 > 0

parentheses
(x-3)(x+3) > 0

draw a parabola arms upwards cutting the x axis at -3 and 3 then show for which arguments the parabola is positive which will get you

x is an element of (-infiniti, -3) u (3, infiniti)

yo.
