Right, so I asked what guitar should I get on the forums a lot. So I finally decided on getting an rg1570. I just have a few questions about the trem, finish and pups.

1) Is the trem = original floyd rose?
2) How does mirage red look in person vs mirage blue? (pics dont really show it well)
3) How are the pups for 80's metal and pantera style music as well as some Rhcp and alternative? (I'll swap em in time so its not a huge deal.)

1) No, its an Edge Pro bridge, which is basically equal to an OFR in quality
2)I dont know..but they have one coming out in black in 2007
3)The pups are supposedly pretty weak, but tone is subjective, some dont hate them, some hate them..you need to try it out for yourself to see if you want them swapped out

Yeh i kinda meant quality about the trem, I didn't know if Edge pro was as good as an ofr.

1) The Edge Pro is (for me) better than the OFR.
2) I've only seen in person the mirage red once, and I looked pretty much like "mirage brown". I don't liked it very much. But the mirage blue is really cool.
3) Well, I'm one of those who don't hate the pickups. I think they're pretty versatile and have enough power. I like them and of course, I'd prefer to get better pickups if I had the monwy (and the guitar xD), but if I couldn't, I wouldn't mind.

1) The Edge Pro is a fantastic bridge, I rather it than the OFR

2) I havn't seen it in MRR but I have it in MRB and it's a really nice colour, looks like black to dark blue the majority of the time though

3) I personally don't like the pickups, they're great for picking up harmonics, but I find that they don't cut through enough (I'm comparing the pickup to an Epi LP's pickups too lol)

It's a fantastic guitar, but the pickups aren't anything special

1) Agreed with Mahoru.
2) Agreed with Mahoru.
3) Pickups aren't too bad, they will last you long enough until you've got the cash to swap em. They do 80s metal well and rhcp relatively well (although technically a single coil neck pickup would do a little better to get JF's sound, the neck HB for some songs and the middle SC for others will get you a decent amount of the way there)

EDIT: Actually Slash_metal, I'd have to say that my RG's stock pickups cut through the mix just as well if not beter than my Epi LP's stocks... But that might be b/c my LP has an all mahogany body and no maple cap so its naturally less bright and middy What Ive experienced with the RG is that i need some pickups to add a little more balls to the bass-end and smooth out the overall sound of the basswood w/ floating trem.. Which is why Im going for a pair of Dimarzio Breeds

That maybe true lol, mine has a maple top.

I'm going to be switching the p'ups from the 1570 out for some Seymour Duncan SH-6's soon anyways

I would like more accounts of how the finish looks please.

I've seen both the MRR and the MRB finishes, and I must say that I much prefer Mirage Red. It looks very dark from a distance, and as you get a little closer it starts looking brown/red. When light is shining on it, the red really shows, and it even looks green with light on it at certain angles. Of course, I'm biased as I haven't seen the blue version in as much detail; but trust me, MRR is the sex.

I don't know about higher end Ibanez pups, but the Infinity 3 and 4 pups that came with my RG320 didn't lack any low end balls, they were just muddy. I don't think there's an Ibanez that comes with a set of pickups that you'd want to keep permanently. I replaced my bridge pickup with a DiMarzio Super 2 which is basicly a Super Distortion with a lot of high end. I might replace it again because I might need more low end balls.
We're only strays.

I prefer Mirage blue (i own it) to the red. But red just isnt my cup of tea, its still nice. The trem is phenominal, but the pups lack. I bought an Evolution Bridge today (Remeber, buy F-spaced), andorder an Evo neck, so that should get here soon. Excellent guitar.
I'm back, you douchebags.

1) edge pro > OFR
2) mirage blue > mirage red
3) pups suck. get dimarzios or EMGs

Here's a pic of mine (Mirage Blue Finish) that's what it looks like at some angles, most of the time it's black, sometimes purple and alot of different shades of blue
