I would recommend using the same type of valve, cos otherwise you'd have to rebias your amp and stuff.

For preamp, electro harmonix 12AX7

For power amp, I think they use 6l6, but I'm not sure. Check the peavey site

I have a quad set of sovtek 6l6 - JJ 6l6 - and GT el34's to experiment in xxx. I play low chunky metal, like disturbed. When I thow in the 6l6s I decide that those are the best tubes for my amp and sound... then I'll throw in the el34's and change my mind and decide those are the best. I'll then again throw in the 6l6's only to change my mind again.

My point is, they all sound good in their own way. The advantage of the 6l6's are better cleans at high volumes.

I'll sell a quad set if you want... I don't need 3 sets of tubes.

6L6 tubes have stronger bass and smoother highs, whereas EL34s are typically known for that midsy classic Marshall tone. I think the 6L6 tubes are better for metal.

I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.
