I broke my g string about 2 weeks ago, and now it has broken again! It broke in the same place as the last one broke, near the saddle (I think that's what it's called). Could the saddle be too sharp or something to that effect?

Thanks in advance.

how heavy is the gauge you are using maybe you need to move up in gauge.....i knw when i started getting a bit more advanced in my playing i kept breaking just my d string im not gunna lie i have a bad habbit of traveling all over the d string and bending the hell outta it so it breaks so i say try a harder gauge if you can if not i hve no idea why it would break i dont think the bridge has anything to do with it

How did it break? Aggressive bend? Tuning up?

If a g string on your guitar breaks near the saddle, its a bad thing, it most likely is because of the saddle, all you need to do is get a higher gauge, or i dunno, would putting a tiny little bit of wax on the saddle under the string help?

You'd think... but I was just strumming, not aggressively at all, and it broke.

Hmm, thats weird.

Obviously there was some tension there, like said before, use some lubricant on the bridge saddles and see what happens.

I had the same problem but it was on the A string (broke 3 A strings in a month!!!).... i talked to a few people and we figured it out, the saddle was to sharp for that one string... so i took it to a guitar shop and they filed it down a little to smooth it out... never happend again.

it's really hard to smooth out a saddle. enough for it to stop breaking strings anyway.

the oil can "help" usually ill find guys reposting in a couple of weeks with another broken string.

graphtech makes string saver saddle for about $30. simple to swap out the saddles.
either go with them or a matching gold, high end replacement saddle pack.

try wrapping the strings around the bridge like zakk wylde, its less of an angle and it has more sustain
