1. definitely a good reccomendation
2. out of his price range
3. to my knowledge, seagull doesn't make a guitar that's all solid-wood within his price range... and i don't think any of the s6 line guitars have solid backs or sides.
4. out of his price range

here are some others to strum when looking:

also, it is good to play some guitars that are out of your price range (such as the two mentioned above) when you are shopping. it's good to play those guitars and listen to them and hear the differences between cheaper guitars and more expensive guitars. it can help you recognize things about guitars in your price range that you might have otherwise overlooked.

ya i ended up with the AJ500M by epiphone masterbilt a beautiful guitar and i got it for $550 taxed and it came with a sweet case. ya the d15 is outta your range but a used one is in it cause they had a used one at my guitar center. also the 214e was on clearance at my guitar center for $650 so 3 of those four were in his price range haha

In Jimtaka's list, i would definetly go with the Guild. Amazing guitars for pretty cheap prices. All solid too.

I think that the masterbuilt guitars are very good, and would also tell you to consider looking at some breedlove guitars. There are some in that price range that are very good.

Check out the Taylor 100 Series. Or try for the Martin DCX1E or Taylor 200 series, but bargain with the guy.

This guitar made me want to jump off a roof when I played it and didn't have the cash to walk out immediately with it: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-Masterbilt-DR500P-Acoustic-Guitar?sku=518107

Seems perfect in your range. The maple back and sides (first of all, all blonde looks sexy as hell) give it the clearest, bell-like tone I've ever heard. Try it.
Sincerely, Chad.
