My dad has a friend who used to work with him that has recently gotten into building guitars. He told my dad he'd be willing to build a bass for me sometime, and I think I've got a nice idea of what I'd like. I was thinking this Explorer body (Warmoth Explorer body.

Thing is, I'd like a 5-string. Warmoth has a section specifically for five string bodies, but I was wondering if it'd be possible to squeeze five strings on this apparent four string body, if it matters at all. It'd be my ideal bass. Answers? I've no knowledge in this particular area.

it would be done easily, the body may seem a bit smaller in comparison, but its possible, as long as the neck socket will fit a five string neck you'll be fine

It would probably be safer to see if you could get a body blank with the explorer design marked out on it.
