where could i get a good first wah pedal. I need one thats inexpensive (under $125)
and is decent, and can last me a good while.
name any websites you can think of.
#3
morley. if you play metal then the steve vai wah is for you. if you just want a good wah pedal, just get the crybaby i guess but i have the morley and its wortth the extra bucks.
#4
ummm...what site could i find a crybaby on???
srry,im kinda new to the whole wah pedal deal,so im kinda oblivious to the kinds that there are,and where to find them.
#6
musiciansfriend sell it.

I don't think a lot of black people play guitar anymore.

I've got a new Dunlop Crybaby GCB95F and its shit, the sweeping range is pretty slim, its thin sounding, its not true bypass and it masks the tone of the guitar. I might mod it or just as cheaply buy a different Wah.

Mid/late 60's VOX Wah's are pretty much the finest ones you can get imo, but you're gonna have to look hard and pay quite a good amount for one
#10
im having second thoughts actually...i want one that will make my guitar sorta...idk,grungy,,kinda like Korn grungy. HELP!!!! IM CONFUSED!

I just think Vox is the best. The V847 is well in your price range. You can also look for used pedals for less on eBay. That's where I got mine.

ok well we'll start from scratch.

what gear are you playing with now? (af far as wah goes, i'd just suggest the original crybaby, the $65 one. it's not half bad and there's and ass load of modds you can do to it.)
but yeah, what's your current guitar/amp/pedals?

EDIT: oh yeah, web sites.
www.musiciansfriend.com
www.music123.com

i like those two for getting small things, if i'm getting a new guitar/amp i usually buy used, so ebay.

^ thank god for UG! (ditto, i didn't know most stuff)

but some were pretty self explanitory.
delay made an echo
reverb reverberated
chorus doubled
wah made a wah nosie
distortion distorted.

but as far as how, i was unaware.

How the hell were you supposed to know what a flanger did? It always sounded vaguely rude...

well,i meant wah pedal, when i stated the above, I was NOT thinking...at all. I do mean wah pedal, the distortion can wait for another year or two.
I don't really know what the hell my equipment is,since i really don't pay attention to that kinda thing. To me,a guitars a guitar,no matter what the hell it looks or plays like, its all good.

and,im not trying to sound uppity, but when it comes to equipment,i prefer brand new,or only been used a few times. But used doesn't bother me at all. Also,i dont trust ebay and guitar or electrical equipment...
#24
well do you have distortion?

again, i'll suggest the dunlop original crybaby wah. it's about $65 and if you continue playing there are an ass load of modds you can do to it.

how do you not know what equipment you have? it's usually written somewhere on the equipment itself, and hope in time, you'll learn that equipment really does matter and it's good to know what it is.

and nothing is wrong with ebay, so far, of ebay i've bought.
a peavey XXX (for $600)
2 baseball bats
a baseball glove
a '81 pontiac trans am.
my parents bought a jeep cj-7
a harley
a cadillac
and a ford f-250.

on a side not, on your location you put, "why should you know?" and then in your sig you basically give away that you're in Randolph, Vermont.

mark: i actually found a book in barns n' noble which outlined how all the effects worked. i also got a book devodted to guitar stuff a couple christmases ago and it went pretty in depth into how all the effects worked.

It took me forever to grasp why people were saying flanger was the same as delay.

I still disagree, no matter HOW it works.
#28
whos says' that? they don't work the same hardly at all...

delay just takes the signal, copies it, and plays it back at determined point in time.

flanger takes the signal of the guitar, copies it, then plays it out of sync while varying it up and down over the original signal path, creating phase cancilation everytime the signals cross.

knew it...same one I picked up just before Christmas

The problem was that back when I was starting even after reading the explanations for how effects worked it still made no sense to me! On topic, an original crybaby's the best bet, cheap, but not so cheap as to be not worth getting (are you listening Behringer Hell Babe?)

agreed, original crybaby, everybody knocks it, but it actually does it's job really well. and there are so many modifications you can do it it, you can turn it into a monster for under $20 more.

EDIT: i understood what it was saying because i always try to visualise what i'm reading if it's something like that.

Well...by the way it sounds I think youre going to give up guitar well before even a year. To be honest. If thats really your attitude, then youve picked the wrong hobby, my friend. It sounds harsh, but its very true.

Having said that...if youre serious at all about the whole guitar thing, learn about the gear you own - what it does - and how it sounds.

Yeah. Well, its not like you have to know EVERYTHING about gear *Like Derek does * when you first start off...but at least know your own lol.

Also, threadstarter, go play a Squire Bullet - then a PRS McCarty Hollowbody and tell me its all the same.

case in point, powerball vs. jazz chorus.

i'd say they can cover all the same tones exactly.

The crybaby 535Q has it all, and is a very versatile wah. I have it and love the sounds it can give.
Behringerv-tone(first guitar)
Epiphone les paul standard plus (cherry burst)
Flanger Pearl peddle
Marshall G15R CD
Dunlop 535Q wah

I like Epi LP's. You got a problem, PM me!

That's not fair, if you pick up a PRS McCarty Hollow that you don't own, you'll be surrounded by nervously sweating shop workers until you finish.

I'm on the market for a different wah too. I have the GC-95 and hate it for metal. Perhaps upgrading it? or selling it for a weeping demon or Vox 847?

Not sure what's the best way to go... but I can say dunlop have left a sour taste in mouth in regards of their company.

GC-95 should be taken off the market and discontinued ASAP!
