for those who find this interesting, here's a link to a video showing how Gibson recreated Eric's ES335 Crossroads guitar. They start from them buying the original at auction. It's very detailed (55 minutes long), so may be boring to a lot of you, but shows how much effort went into recreating an exact copy. In fact Eric thought it was his original.

It's amazing after seeing this that they can sell them as cheap as they do.
