i got a ibenez with 3 pick ups:
neck
middle
bridge

how would i got about the middle if i was getting a set of emg actives 81-85s
could i leave the passive pick up there or if i were to replace it would it have to be active?
And could my local guitar shop do it?)8th street music).

you can keep the passive one but it will require some complex wiring, your shop should be able to do it if they have a competent tech.

It probably won't work very well to mix them. You should put an EMG or other active single coil in the middle.
I'm not very active here on UG currently.
