I know this is probably asked tons of times, but how would I go about playing a song that requires me to pick say the four middle strings, and avoid strumming the outer two? Should I employ some sort of technique in masking these strings, and strumming like I usually do? I'm pretty good with say Bm and Dm chords that require me to not strum the top strings.

Edit- Just realized its called "String muting"

I'll have to do more research on the techniques used.

what i do is just lay any part of a finger ontop of the string needing to be muted... but not fret it...

Hey thanks. I figured thats the kind of response I would get. I'll have to start employing string muting while playing open chords too.
