so i think im gettin good enough to start working on solos, but don't know where i should start. what are some good exercises and other things to know for soloing? any advice is appreciated!

That's a good scale. And it's movable too.

Just start with a really simple solo and break it into sections.
I started with the first solo from Seize the Day and it worked for me.

That would be the pentatonic Minor scale, if I'm not mistaken.
Thats good to start with, its a commonly used scale, slash uses it alot, among several others.
I'm not that great of a soloist compared to alot, but I do decent, and alot of what I do (not all) ties in with that scale, and the pentatonic Minor Blues scale...
