It does sound like a fretless but you could probably get that tone out of a bass with frets.
It's better to burn out than to fade away.

Yea i agree. Its quite confusing. Me & my friend are kinda quarreling over this song since last weekend. I think he used a combination of them in the studio. But is it possible to get that kinda tone out of a fretted bass?

And download is on the left. The right side is about the current project of this guitarist (Faraz Anwar) named Dusk. Listen to the song Chairoskuro. He wrote that song when he was only 17 yrs old, and had been playing for only 3 yrs. Berklee & London School of Music awarded him Outstanding Musical Achievement Award on that, and he is one of the youngest ppl in Asia to get that.

fretted

you can get nice slides from fretted. its all about smoothness of movement and as little pressure as you can get.
