I have recently made the transition from classical (accoustic nylon) guitar to electric, and loving it. I am trying to master Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes (the non-octave pedal bits), and it is sounding fairly good. But in some instances it has a part like this.

e----------------------------------------------------------|
C#---------------------------------------------------------|
A---10/12--10--9--0-----------------10------10/9--9--------|
E--------------------/12-12-12--12------12-----------------|
A--------------------/12-12-12-----------------------------|
E----------------------------------------------------------|

I hope that came out right. What I am asking is how do you do an apparent slide to the 12 fret on the 4th and 5th strings from seemingly nowhere. If the string hasn't been plucked there would be no sustain to make the slide sound like anything. Does it mean something else, is there a special technique, or am I missing the point completely??

Thanks, I thought it might be something like that.
