i have an extra strat and i want to take away the 5 way selector and use all three pots on the strat as volumes pots for each seperate pick up. im very familar with all the electrical sutf f so diagrams or schematics or just explain it to me would be nice

yeah you can it would be the same as a 3 way toggle switch i.e. LPs and etc

No...the switches work very differently.
Compare how a 3-way switch from LP looks, as compared to a Strat's 5 switch.

EDIT: You could do it if you used 3 on/off switches instead of a 5-way...

Just wire the last lug of each SPDT switch to a new volume control, instead of just using one.
