Okay I was just thinking today, but I was going to buy a cheap-o guitar and try and mod it w/ some pin striping stuff.

But then I thought of an easier method, but wasn't sure how it'd look.

Would it be possible to use Vinyl for the stripes and then just clearcoat ontop of that?

that would be quite tacky. it would look clean and smooth if you did it right, but in my opinion it'd be tacky.
This is my signature. There are many like it but this one is MINE.

Its waht major companies do for guitars with intricate body designs. Just make sure you get het vinyl on flat enough and that yo uuse a thin thin thin sheet of vinyl.

Stupid question, because I was thinking of a RR/Laiho style pin striping.

How would you turn the pinstripe without it wrinkling? Since they're meant to be straight, but there's the slight curvature outlining an RR V shape.
