i'm building a guitar from scratch. either this http://www.deanguitars.com/dean_winter_07/splittail.htm or this http://www.deanguitars.com/dean_winter_07/flame_top_razorback.htm . My question is how do i get the dimensions for the body. do i guess or is it very specific. help please. thanks

I would try to be specific so that all the necessary hardware can fit...maybe the v at the end could be shorter, but most of the body should be exact

One common approach is to begin with a head on picture (like the ones you link to), find a component on the guitar with a known dimension and scale up the image from there. If you can find a larger image to start from, it will be easier to do.

AGreed! Or you could use the well-known Fender Strat dimensions/scale to derive the distances for the bridge, PU routes, neck joints, nut placement, etc. Looks like a fun build. Good Luck!

Just keep in mind that the Dean Guitars are short scale (24.75) rather than long scale (25.5).
