I've been pondering on this for a long time now. Being a HUGE film Buff, I cant help but notice that Hollywood hasnt been producing any "Quality" films in quite a while. Why is this? Have ALL the stories been told? Is the focus more on Realistic CGI as opposed to decent actors and actresses, much less a decent plot? With an exception held toward independent films and filmakers I have to say I havent been to see a decent movie in probably over 6 months and half the time when I go, I leave dissapointed. These days where Remakes and Sequals are taking over the silver screen, its hard to push myself to go see anything... You're thoughts?

Um..if you like intense movies, go see Children of Men. That movie was crazy. The plot was pretty cool especially because its in the future and based off of todays events

I'm not much of a movie person, but I have to agree with you. I haven't seen a movie that I can honestly say I really liked for a long time.

I think it's because I'm becoming more able to predict how the movie goes. Damn I need to make a movie of my own

well i agree, but the biggest problem i have is all hte crappy horror movies that are coming out... most of them rely on gore rather then actually making something that is actuall good or scary.
#16
Oh yeah Little Miss Sunshine was pretty good. I loved when Dwayne freaked out. t'was funny

Go see Deja Vu with Denzel Washington. *Jack Black voice* "It will blow your mind!"

I think there are too many horror films. They arn't even good at all. They arn't even close to being good as the Friday the 13th movies.

I think there should be more movies like the James Bond movie last year. That was the last good movie I saw.

Lucky Number Slevin had a very cheesy title and the twists were explained so throughly at the end I felt like a retard.

There have been some great movies recently. The Departed, Little Miss Sunshine
ah I did not like Little Miss Sunshine. I didn't think it was funny at all. I have yet to see the Departed, but I've heard from friends that it was very good.

The last somewhat recent movie I saw that I liked (that I can remember ) was the Descent. I was surprised with this one, I didn't think I'd like it.

@ Threadstarter

I agree, I had a rant on it a while ago. I love movies made pre-90's. Talk about classics.

So what's the problem today? Every director wants to make a blockbuster epic and in the end he or she just ends up making a piece of shit. Everyone is trying to go for the gold; the masterpiece, and they almost always fail.

I think the last movie I went to see in the cinema was Borat, while I didn't hate it i would watch it again. I find it difficult to sit all the way through a movie, it either needs to keep me laughing the entire time, which is rare, or makes me think, which I suppose isn't rare but I'm yet to watch any real thought-provoking filmd. Though I have watched Mean Girls and Shrek 2 numerous times today, because I'm ill and have to do something in bed all day. That isn't masturbation/having sex with my fog/whatever you feel like suggesting.

The last film I thought was good and deserved my respect was The Pursuit of Happyness, mainly because it's about the only film that I can remember making me cry. I feel so emasculated .

It's actually very good, I really enjoyed it and all my friends who have seen it say they liked it. I'd recommend it.

But I can see what people mean about no truly amazing films at the moment. For example, some of the utter crap that's on at the moment. I went and saw The Holiday just after christmas, that film was appaling, even my girlfriend thought so.

Those were Good movies, but nothing overwhelmingly spectacular.

With the exception of The Prestige, of course

Dunno, Pan's Labyrinth was the only movie, along with The Prestige, that really stuck with me.

Yeah even Goerge Lucsas has gotten pretty bad with the last Star Wars movie. There was WAY TOO much over acting and Anakin was way to emo than how I want Darth Vader to be.
