I never liked Psycroptic much...save for my infinite fondess of Matthew Chalk's vocals.

Boring, terribly generic stuff.

Chalky's vocals are some of the most annoying I have ever heard in death metal (this coming from a Cryptopsy worshipper).

Psycroptic is the ****ing shit, and their songs are hell fun to play!!!!! They're the biggest death metal act in Australia...and they're Tasmanian, which makes it cooler

Awesome, awesome, awesome band with an awesome live show.

And they're not generic at all; they have a very distinct sound. Scepter... is one of my favourite DM albums ever. The others are quite good as well.

Though I wouldn't call them brutal.....they're not very brutal at all.

^ on the brutal thing

Seriously, if the guitars had a chunkier tone with more bass and were louder they'd sound twice as brutal, seriously if you have a heavy tone, learn Lacertine Forest, that sounds brutal as hell.

A whole bunch of bands. Its at this festival called Overcranked. I think God Forbid is the main act, but yea...Psycroptic are playing, so I'm going.

so was it Chalky who sang on Sceptre? Cause Im just getting into that album and hes hit and miss for me....kinda like a death metal Mike Patton cause he does alot of funky weird **** with his voice, instead of staying monotone.

Best thing out of Australia. Next to Quokkas and Supashakes.

I'd argue that Mournful Congregation and diSEMBOWELMENT are better, but I guess a matter of opinion.

Class live act, but Scepter of the Ancients is the only standout release for me

He really does have like 5823475262 bands. It's insane. And he's vocals for a bunch and guitar for some and bass for some and drums for some. He's really ****ing stretched.

Yeah, Psycroptic own....

I dunno why everyone seems to hate Symbols of Failure, I liked it a lot.

I think it's because the riffs became a bit less inspired and more "technical for the sake of technical". Where as on the first 2 albums, the riffs were catchy aswel as technical. I like a few songs off of Symbols, but most get dull. Plus no one can ever replace Chalky. Jason is good, but he's got nothing on Chalky.

Who hates Symbols? Psycroptic has always been one of those bands that never released a bad album I thought.

Maybe I didnt phrase that correctly...I just meant that Symbols seems to be the least liked of Psycroptic's albums, not that people hate it. I understand that the vocalist change has something to do with it, but I think Jason does just fine, except that he doesnt know when to shut up. lol

As for the riffs on Symbols, I thought they were just as good and just as technical as the ones on Sceptre...OK, that was a lie...but I still thought they were pretty sweet, and still catchy.

Symbols gets repetitive quite fast but its a great album none the less
oooo btw their myspace says they are recording writing new shiz
should be great
