I know this is a guitar forum, but what are some bands without guitarists that you enjoy?

My favorite "guitarless" band is Ben Folds Five. I've always been a fan of Ben Folds and his piano.

I love Combichrist & lots of other industrial bands who don't use guitars. Other than that..... eek.

Nobuo Uematsu and John William's orchestras.

[/thread](I know Nobuo works with The Black Mages a lot, but his straight orchestral work is just dumbfounding.)

Well I really like Keane on somedays. I think they only have vocals, bass, drums, and piano.

um, i'll just listen to any classical symphonies and chances are that's a better "band" than 95% of all rock bands that exists.

Now why didn't I think of that? Classical music as well
I don't know of many composers, but the ones I've heard symphonies play music from...... WOW.

"Technically I don't play guitar, All I play is truth and emotion" - Jimi Hendrix

So I guess the Experience/Band of Gypsies etc were guitarless bands...He just played what looked like a guitar. It was actually just truth and emotion materialised into the general shape of a guitar. Most often the shape of an upside down strat of course.

There's probably a whole bunch of Marching bands that don't use guitar but I don't know any specific ones. I don't know, it just seems like marching with a guitar would be retarded.

Ben Folds Five has a bass guitarist. But you can just say Ben Folds, when he plays solo. He is a beast...

I don't know if you can really call it a "band," but all the jazz legends on "Kind of Blue" like Miles David, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderly, and others, that's pretty bitchin'.

There's also an unsigned band I saw recently called Juan the Mannequin that's just a bass and a drummer.
Can't stop the signal.

A lot of the electronic music I listen to is guitarless, like the Knife, Justice. and the Presets. And all the hip-hop, too. Except I think the Roots might have a guitarist.

But he asked for a guitarist, not a bassist.

the only guitarless band that comes to my mind is Dos. It's mike watt and his wife both playing bass. It's pretty cool.
