I noticed after NAMM they updated their site, naturally, and I knew the 550 was getting re-released as a limited run of 1987 of them...so is the rg550mxx the limited reissues, or are they mass-producing them now? And when can I buy one .

IMO, get an old used one. It says limited run reissue, woop de fu#kin' doo.

This is just an attempt by Ibanez to cash in on the market for the old 550's, as Ibanez makes no money from this.

This production is better, other than all fresh wood + Edge + locking stud, they upgraded the neck to 5 pc. maple/walnut with dual titanium strengthening rods on either side of the truss rod for structural stability.

Given the option, i'd definitely get this instead of 2nd hand 550s. The neck is 1mm thicker then the original Wizard but i prefer it that way (may be downside to others)
